what is it?
Naturalization is the process by which an individual becomes a United States citizen. Also referred to as Citizenship.
There are several requirements that a person must meet before applying and investigation is strongly recommended to ensure proper preparation.
The naturalization process includes an interview in English with a USCIS officer and a civics test, both oral and written portions.
who can apply?
At least 18 years old
Be a permanent resident (green card holder) for at least 5 years UNLESS married to a U.S. citizen then its 3 years
Living within the same U.S. state for at least 3 months before filing the application
Have continuous residence in the U.S. as a permanent resident for 5 years before filing the application
Have been physically present in the U.S. for at least 30 months out of the 5 years before filing the application
Be able to pass the English test as well as U.S. history and government test
Be a person of good moral character
